Our Vitamin B complex formulation contains Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, D-Biotin, Folic Acid and Inositol. Vitamin B, of any kind is water soluble. Vitamin B was discovered by the scientist that also discovered Vitamin A, called McCollum.
Vitamin B1, is also known as Thiamine. It can be found in yeast, brown rice, pork and Brazil nuts. Adequate Thiamine is responsible for avoiding Beri Beri disease (B1 deficiency). It’s also responsible for the promotion of normal energy metabolism and nervous system function leading to overall improvement of psychological function, and reduction in fatigue.
Vitamin B2, also known as Riboflavin can be found in food sources such as organ meats, yeast, mushrooms, and Kale. Vitamin B2 is responsible for promoting normal energy metabolism, leading to optimised physiological and nervous system function. Vitamin B2 is also responsible for the health and maintenance of skin, mucous membranes, vision, iron metabolism, red blood cell production and preventing oxidative stress.
Vitamin B3, is also known as Niacin, it’s a vitamin like substance made from the amino acid Tryptophan. It is found in yeast, brown rice, turkey, fish, lean red meat, chicken and almonds. Adequate Niacin levels help to avoid Pellagra disease. Niacin is also responsible for reduction in fatigue by increasing energy metabolism, promoting blood flow to active tissues, and optimising the function of the nervous system.
Vitamin B5, is mainly referred to as Pantothenic Acid and is found in organ meats, peanuts, cashew, broccoli and avocado. Its health benefits include healthy maintenance of the digestive system, immune system and it attributes to reduced stress in the body.
Vitamin B6 is referred to as Pyridoxine among other names including Pyridoxal-5-phosphate and pyridoxamine. It is sourced from sunflower seeds, wheat germ, tuna, lentils, pork and egg yolk. Vitamin B6 is responsible for cysteine synthesis, and promoting the normal function of the immune and nervous system.
Vitamin B7 or D-biotin, is used in many enzymatic reactions within the body, it’s found in eggs, oats, salmon and tomatoes. It’s a co-enzyme that is used for many carboxylase enzymes. Carboxylase enzymes are used in metabolism, I.e catabolism of amino acids and fatty acids (Propionyl Coenzyme A) or fatty acid synthesis (Carboxylase). In addition, it maintains health and growth of hair.
B12, or Cobalamin is found in Organ meats, shellfish, and beef, there are no plant sources of B12. The role of Vitamin B12 is to regulate normal energy, contributing to optimization of neurological and psychological function.
Vitamin B9, or Folate can be found naturally in foods such as soya beans, peanuts, barley, almonds, walnuts, and lentils. This helps to demote the occurrence of ill health neural development, particularly in a the developing foetus. Vitamin B9 is best known for its prevention of neural tube defect Spina Bidifa. In addition, in adults it contributes to health of the immune systems and promotes normal psychological functions.
Lastly, is Inositol, which is technically listed as Vitamin B8. Its active ingredient is known as myo-inositol. It’s found in lecithin oil, liver, brown rice, cereals, and green leafy vegetables. It’s role is to help breakdown fats, this is particularly useful in areas such as the brain and heart where fat deposits would be harmful to health. In addition, Inositol can function as a neurotransmitter and so aid the normal function of the nervous system.
